Dr. Dawn Hanusz, DVM/Owner

Dr. Dawn Hanusz is a native of Toledo. After graduating from Central Catholic High School she attended the University of Findlay where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in the Pre-Veterinary Medicine field. She then pursued her doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ohio State University. After working in private practices in Ohio and Michigan she decided to branch out on her own, starting Paws & Claws Animal Hospital in January 2014. She shares her home with her husband, Ethan, 2 dogs, Coal and Ivy, and 5 cats, Drake, Smores, Swampy, Darbly, and Louie. She also has 3 grown children, Derrik, Courtney, and Kira. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and scrapbooking.

Janelle Coleman, Veterinary Technician / Office Manager

Janelle has been a significant part of the Paws & Claws family since it opened in January 2014. She started in the Veterinary field in 2002 as an assistant. In 2009, she graduated from Stautzenberger College as a Registered Veterinary Technician. A few years later, she realized her passion for canine massage therapy, and so she went on to become a Certified Massage Therapist. In her spare time she enjoys camping with her family: Cody (husband), Xavier (son), and Alyssa (daughter). She also shares her home with 2 dogs, Keyda and Harper.

Lauryn Ritenour, Veterinary Technician

Lauryn joined our practice in February 2019. She always had a strong passion for helping and caring for all animals. She decided to pursue that passion at Stautzenberger College where she graduated with an Associates degree and became a Registered Veterinary Technician. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, practicing yoga, and traveling with her boyfriend, Adam.

Sarah Winston, Veterinary Assistant

Sarah joined our practice in May 2019. She is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University where she studied biological and chemical science. Growing up  next of Goodyear's farm in Brunswick, Ohio she quickly learned that she had a love for animals and hopes to soon further her education in veterinary medicine / pathology. She shares her home with her boyfriend, Graham and her dog, Blue. In her spare time you can find her kayaking, fishing, hiking with Blue, or cheering on her favorite basketball and hockey teams.

Bethany Snider, Veterinary Assistant

Bethany joined our practice in November 2019. She is a hardworking and energetic individual who has a soft spot for "fat" cats. She just moved to the Toledo area in 2019 with her husband Derek and likes learning about this city and it's surrounding areas. She has 2 cats (Charlotte and Voodoo) that terriorize the house, 1 dog (Miss Mae) who's favorite spot is her pillow and a horse (P.W) who eats her money so she at least knows where it's going.
