Dr. Dawn Hanusz, DVM/Owner
Dr. Dawn Hanusz is a native of Toledo. After graduating from Central Catholic High School she attended the University of Findlay where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in the Pre-Veterinary Medicine field. She then pursued her doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ohio State University. After working in private practices in Ohio and Michigan she decided to branch out on her own, starting Paws & Claws Animal Hospital in January 2014. She shares her home with her husband, Ethan, 2 dogs, Coal and Ivy, and 5 cats, Smores, Swampy, Darbly, Foster and Louie. She also has 3 grown children, Derrik, Courtney, and Kira. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and scrapbooking.
Janelle Coleman, Veterinary Technician / Office Manager
Janelle has been a significant part of the Paws & Claws family since it opened in January 2014. She started in the Veterinary field in 2002 as an assistant. In 2009, she graduated from Stautzenberger College as a Registered Veterinary Technician. A few years later, she realized her passion for canine massage therapy, and so she went on to become a Certified Massage Therapist. In her spare time she enjoys camping, hiking, and baseball with her family: Cody (husband), Xavier (son), and Alyssa (daughter). She also shares her home with her dog Harper.
Sarah Winston, Veterinary Assistant
Sarah joined our practice in May 2019. She is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University where she studied biological and chemical science. Growing up next of Goodyear's farm in Brunswick, Ohio she quickly learned that she had a love for animals and hopes to soon further her education in veterinary medicine / pathology. She shares her home with her boyfriend, Graham and her dog, Blue. In her spare time you can find her kayaking, fishing, hiking with Blue, or cheering on her favorite basketball and hockey teams.
Abby Koback, Veterinary Assistant
Abby joined our team in April of 2021. She has lived in the Toledo area her whole life and always been passionate about caring and helping animals. She plans to further her education by attending Stautzenberger College in the Summer to become a licensed Veterinary Technician. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her Rottie "Gino", hanging out with family and traveling anywhere with a beach.
Daniella Fedak-Lengel, Veterinary Assistant
She is originally from London, England but moved to America when she was 5 to the greater Toledo area. She has always had a love for animals, and she plans on attending Veterinary school in the future. She is currently a Veterinary Technician student at Stautzenberger College, and a recent graduate from Bowling Green State University where she studied Biology, Chemistry, and minored in Spanish. She has 2 dogs (Taz & Ed), 2 cats (Nyx & Raven Mae), 1 bearded dragon (Big Bertha), 1 leopard gecko (Sol), and 3 African Degus (Ada, Agnes, and Andromeda). When she is not studying or helping animals at work, she spends her time volunteering at local homeless shelters or spending time with her fur babies.
Rosemary Fedorowicz, Veterinary Assistant
She is from Michigan and graduated from the University of Findlay in Ohio with a bachelor of science in both English Equestrian studies and Equine Business Management. She spent the several years riding and training at two barns in North Carolina. She wanted to be able to do more to help all animals so she decided to go back to school. She is currently studying to become a Veterinary Technician at Stautzenberger College. She has a horse named Malcolm, 3 cats ( Coco, Louie & Rasputin). She is an avid shark week enthusiast and it is her dream to one day move somewhere warm and live by the ocean so she can learn to surf and take her animals on beach adventures.
